Your Orders Help Animals in Need
*Correction to the news story - we are located in Madera Ranchos and the donations were not for food but for additional stalls to house Dumbledore and other large animals in need.
When you place an order, you contribute to the welfare of animals in need in the Central Valley of California. A portion of the proceeds goes towards shelters, rescue organizations, and various animal welfare initiatives. This support helps provide food, medical care, and safe environments for animals that have been abandoned or abused. By choosing to commission a portrait, you're not just making a purchase; you're making a positive impact on the lives of these vulnerable creatures. Your support truly makes a difference!
Some of the rescues in our Valley doing amazing work are Fresno Bully Rescue (bully breed dog rescue) www.fresnobullyrescue.org and Rawhide Rescues (horse rescue) https://www.facebook.com/p/RawHyde-Rescues-100088557799778/. Give them a look and consider helping if you can. They are really making a difference in our area that is in dire need of their services.
A Few of My Rescue Stories
Dumbledore ("Dumble") was a senior 17 hand sorrel Thoroughbred gelding who came to us in early May of 2022 from Fresno Humane Animal Services in Fresno County. He was emaciated, abused, and abandoned. He was incontinent and hard to keep "groceries in" but we loved him dearly as he was the friendliest and goofiest horse we have ever met. He not only lived his remaining years, he thrived. Sadly, Dumble passed away in September of 2026. Although we always knew our time with him would be short due to his age and past history, it was fulfilling to say the very least. His luminous soul will stay with us always.
After Dumble came to live with us, we received generous donations for a new stall system from many kind hearted folks which allowed us again to answer the call from Fresno Humane Animal Services taking in an abandoned, underweight bay Quarter Horse mare we named Otter who had an extremely large degloving wound on her hip/leg. Otter is now fully recovered from her wounds and is a sweet girl.
Out of the neglect they suffered at the hands of humans, Otter and Dumble thrived when they came to us. It is truly amazing how much love, care, and a fully belly can do. Otter is now thriving in an environment she desperately needed alongside her Palomino gelding pal Budwieser ("Bud"). We are very grateful for all of our blessings.
We also took in from Fresno Humane an emaciated goat with an eye injury (for which he had removal surgery). We named him Huggy Bear as our other two goats at the time were Starsky & Hutch (IYKYK). Sadly Starsky has sinced passed away from mouth cancer. Huggy Bear even had his own Instagram account courtesy of my sister Becky Holly who is a board member at Fresno Bully Rescue. Tragically, Huggy Bear passed away from bladder complications but his memory lives on. Hutch now has two goat friends - Dolly and another rescue mama (retired) goat named Maria Conchita Alonso. Huggy Bear's instagram page carries on his legacy. Huggy Bear really was the goofiest, most loveable boy and we will forever be grateful we got to care for and love him.
